Successful Case History: the collaboration with Carrefour
We continue our monthly appointment with the successful Case Histories, because today we want to talk to you about our cooperation with the French company Carrefour, one of the most widespread large-scale distribution companies in the world.
This important company has also chosen our 48H Fevermonitor to expand the offer and quality of the products of its parapharmacy departments, obviously wanting to focus on a reliable and extremely useful tool. Carrefour has therefore decided to rely on IPS's twenty-year experience to successfully achieve its business objectives, as manufacturers of innovative medical devices for the large-scale retail sector and retailers in the pharmacy channel.
The history and data of the French company Carrefour
Carrefour is a chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets founded by Marcel Fournier and Louis Defforey in Annecy, France in 1959. The French company is the fourth largest retailer by turnover in the world and the second in Europe, and is nonetheless present in 30 countries around European Union, Brazil and Argentina, as well as in North Africa and Asia.
Since 2018 it has implemented the “Act for food” program, whose goal is to transform the Carrefour Italia group into the world leader in food transition. The salient points of this operation are: control of supply chains also through blockchain technology, greater accessibility to organic products for all, defense of small local producers, efficient and innovative services and enhancement of food and wine excellences throughout the Italian territory.
In 2020 Carrefour Italia, thanks to the widespread presence in the Italian territory of Carrefour Hypermarkets, Carrefour Market and Carrefour Express, had a turnover of 4.66 billion euros, creating jobs for more than 16 thousand collaborators. To date, the French company operates through 1450 points of sale in 18 different Italian regions (mainly in the center-north), but it also wanted to get out of the classic schemes of its core business, investing its resources in the construction of 23 fuel stations and 5 car washes managed by the Group. Finally, it is necessary to remember that this supermarket chain has developed a range of branded products with over 3000 references, thus guaranteeing its customers a truly vast and convenient offer of goods, always proving faithful to its policy of quality and quantity of the products offered.
Carrefour Italy and Baby Care:
the choice of 48H FeverMonitor by IPS
Carrefour has also chosen to invest in the Baby Care sector, with the clear goal of improving the offer of its parapharmacy department. To better address this decision, the French company has decided to rely on the know-how and technologies of IPS, which has been able to offer the supermarket chain a simple but extremely effective product. The object in question is our 48H FeverMonitor, the microencapsulated liquid crystal thermometer capable of offering a continuous response on the feverish state for 48 hours. The feature of this tool lies in the possibility of being able to apply it directly to the baby's forehead using the special adhesive, and to leave it in place for several hours. This method of application is very convenient for use on newborns, as it allows parents to control changes in body temperature without having to wake the child, but above all to always keep it under control for a long time without having to repeat the measurement several times. .
In addition, this thermometer also guarantees a particularly accurate reading, and has an extensive range between N and 40 degrees, where N means a normal internal temperature, while the numbers are an approximation of the current feverish state. The measurement is very quick: after about 30 seconds from application on the forehead, a clear result can already be obtained, which could then adapt to any internal changes that occur during the day.
