The German GDO company OBI, the second seller in the DIY sector in Europe and the fourth in the world, has also chosen our 48H FeverMonitor for the resale of this Baby thermometer in its home care departments.

This large company in the do-it-yourself sector decided to rely on iPS's twenty years of experience to successfully pursue its business objectives, because it was looking for innovative products that could support new marketing strategies. This is the reason for choosing OBI, which has decided to turn to us as a reliable manufacturer of medical devices for the GDO sector and the pharmacy channel.

 

The history and numbers of the German company OBI

The OBI company was founded jointly by Emil Lux and Manfred Maus, when in 1980 they opened their first store in Germany, in the Alstertal shopping center in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel. The name and symbol of the company are not the brainchild of the two partners, but were purchased for 10,000 German marks from a French company called Seramo. In fact, the name OBI corresponds to the phonetic transcription from the French word hobby, so it should not surprise us that this was then patented to become a brand for construction and DIY, also for the process of foreign expansion. The symbol instead represents a nice beaver.

From the very beginning, the company has always been inspired by US DIY stores / GDOs and their business model, which allowed customers to find all the basic assortment for do-it-yourself and DIY in one place.

To date, OBI has its headquarters in Wermelskirchen, in the German region of North Rhine, and deals with large-scale distribution in the home improvement and gardening sectors. In 2019 it closed its balance sheet with a total turnover of 8.2 billion euros, with an increase in revenues of about 500 thousand euros, or 6.3% more than the previous year. This multinational therefore proves to be a growing reality, which has 668 points of sale in its network. In fact, OBI offers its services in 11 European countries, including Italy, offering jobs to around 48,000 people and satisfying more than 200 million customers every year.

why did they choose 48H FeverMonitor?

OBI has chosen to export its business model also in the Baby Care sector, thus expanding its offer for home care. For this mission it has chosen to rely on the know-how and skills of IPS, which has been able to offer this multinational a simple but extremely effective product.

48H FeverMonitor is a microencapsulated liquid crystal thermometer able to offer a continuous response on the feverish state for up to 48 hours. The feature of this tool lies in the possibility of being able to apply it directly to the baby's forehead using the special adhesive, and to leave it in place for several hours. This product, of course, is particularly suitable for application on newborns, as it allows parents to control changes in body temperature without having to wake the child, but above all to keep it continuously monitored for some time without having to take the measurement several times.

In addition, this thermometer guarantees a very precise reading, with an action range between N and 40 degrees, where N means a regular temperature, while the numbers are an approximation of the current feverish state. The measurement takes place very quickly: after about 30 seconds from application on the forehead, a clear response can already be obtained, which could then adapt to any internal changes that occur during the day. Finally we must underline that this product is absolutely non-toxic, unbreakable and completely made in Italy according to the current CE regulations.
